Institutions are not the solution.<\/b>
\n<\/b> Every child deserves a family\u2014every person a home.<\/b><\/h2>\n

Imagine living in a space shared by 15 other people.<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>The only thing that belongs to you is a bed\u2014very often with bars for \u201cprotection\u201d\u2014and you may have to stay there for days, months, or years.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Imagine eating at fixed times\u2014whether you are hungry or not.<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>Having no choice.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Imagine your daily life depending on staff shifts, because they are responsible for your care, and are the people you see every day.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Imagine not having dreams.<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>Not because you don\u2019t want to\u2014but because you are not allowed to.<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For thousands of people\u2014children and adults\u2014living in institutions in Greece, this is everyday life.<\/span><\/p>\n

The institutionalization of both disabled and non-disabled people <\/span>constitutes a violation of fundamental human rights<\/b>, such as the right to education, family life, work, self-determination, and social inclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n
